"i don't do compliments very well." it's not quite an apology for her reaction to the one he gave but an explanation for it. compliments of any kind make her suspicious and half the time turning off the part of her brain that searched for a motive takes some work. he's sweet though and it was something she liked about him too much to give him the wrong impression. it wasn't that what he said was unwelcome but that she didn't know how to respond to it in a normal way. // kole

She wasn’t the first he knew who felt that way - hell, he grew up with an insecure twin sister who punched him in the shoulder any time he complimented her - sure, most of the time it was playful but there were moments, a phantom stinging sensation pulsed in his arm as he recalled the memories of when it actually hurt.
